In Work in Progress, I attempt to find some answers about my life-long procrastination predicament by uncovering its psychological and scientific roots, and challenging the idea that procrastination is a trait to be fixed.
In this film I pay tribute to my mother, a Latina immigrant who worked hard to pave a path for herself and her family. She began as a teacher, earned a PhD, and became a principal at a school for teens at risk of dropping out.
My mother is an inspiration to many. She is also a self-confessed procrastinator!
Work in progress is a documentary film that explores the main theme with anecdotal research and storytelling. The central motivation throughout all my work is the human condition. In a world full of grand tragedies and struggle, I am focused on the everyday points of connection that come from lightness and humor.
I’m hopeful that Work in Progress will help others to see procrastination in a new light, and perhaps even build compassion for the procrastinators all around us who contribute great things to the world…just not with great timing!
If you or someone you know is a procrastinator, please help me finish the film and share this story of hope & acceptance with the world.
